## Microsoft Global ML Building Footprints data

The compact Mexico City and Tulsa building-envelope targets are derived from
Microsoft Global ML Building Footprints, dataset path version 2026-02-03.
Planetwide clips, quantizes, and compresses the source into modified PWCITY
descriptor data. The source and modified data are shared under the following
agreement.

### Community Data License Agreement - Permissive - Version 2.0

This is the Community Data License Agreement - Permissive, Version 2.0
(the "agreement"). Data Provider(s) and Data Recipient(s) agree as follows:

#### 1. Provision of the Data

1.1. A Data Recipient may use, modify, and share the Data made available by
Data Provider(s) under this agreement if that Data Recipient follows the terms
of this agreement.

1.2. This agreement does not impose any restriction on a Data Recipient's use,
modification, or sharing of any portions of the Data that are in the public
domain or that may be used, modified, or shared under any other legal exception
or limitation.

#### 2. Conditions for Sharing Data

2.1. A Data Recipient may share Data, with or without modifications, so long as
the Data Recipient makes available the text of this agreement with the shared
Data.

#### 3. No Restrictions on Results

3.1. This agreement does not impose any restriction or obligations with respect
to the use, modification, or sharing of Results.

#### 4. No Warranty; Limitation of Liability

4.1. All Data Recipients receive the Data subject to the following terms:

5.1. "Data" means the material received by a Data Recipient under this
agreement.

5.2. "Data Provider" means any person who is the source of Data provided under
this agreement and in reliance on a Data Recipient's agreement to its terms.

5.3. "Data Recipient" means any person who receives Data directly or indirectly
from a Data Provider and agrees to the terms of this agreement.

5.4. "Results" means any outcome obtained by computational analysis of Data,
including for example machine learning models and models' insights.

## OpenStreetMap context data

The Mexico City and Tulsa `PWVECT1` context databases are altered derivatives
of OpenStreetMap data and are made available under the Open Data Commons Open
Database License (ODbL) 1.0.

`PWVECT1` remains physically separate from the Microsoft-derived `PWCITY1`
building-envelope database. The runtime packets contain quantized city-context
geometry, not the complete OpenStreetMap database.

## Tokyo geographic databases

`data/city_vectors/tokyo/roads.pwtokyo` and the OpenStreetMap-derived records
in `features.pwfeatures` are altered OpenStreetMap databases, made available
under ODbL 1.0. Copyright © OpenStreetMap contributors. The road snapshot
retains the frozen JP-13 selection, including its remote islands. Supporting
building, water, park and railway coverage is a bounded central-city sample.
Landmark descriptors include Wikidata CC0 facts with per-record provenance.
Unknown heights, generated interiors and illustrative architectural details
are inferred and are not surveyed facts.

The preview's `planetwide-map-data.zip` includes the exact modified databases.
Sources, licenses, transformation steps and hashes are recorded in
`docs/research/tokyo-atlas/` and the offline evidence archives. Wikidata's
structured data terms are at <https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Licensing>.

## Natural Earth land data

`assets/maps/earth_land_110m.png` is a 512×256 one-bit land/water mask derived
from Natural Earth 4.1.0 1:110m land polygons through `world-atlas@2.0.2`.
Natural Earth data are in the public domain under the project's terms of use:
<https://www.naturalearthdata.com/about/terms-of-use/>.

The exact source version, source and output hashes, transformation steps, and
tooling licenses are recorded in `docs/art/earth-land-mask-provenance.md`. The
generation toolchain does not ship with the game.
